Bill C-83, Corrections and Conditional Release Act amendments

On November 19, 2018, Prisoners’ Legal Services submitted a brief to the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security on Bill C-83, An Act to amend the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and another Act. Prisoners’ Legal Services endorses the submission made by the Canadian Bar Association. We are concerned that the Bill will still allow prisoners to be held in solitary confinement and that it does not include enforceable standards to provide treatment to prisoners with mental disabilities. Click here to read our submission and here to read the Canadian Bar Association’s brief.
